2D Handmade Papers and Dye
After years of trial and error in papermaking, returning to school connected the dots for me. I learned that I could combine pulp with almost anything and create paper. I took it a step further when I pushed the boundaries in search of different textures and colors. I wanted to find a way to simplify how art could be interpreted. What better teacher than nature herself? A tree branch, even after it becomes sawdust, still holds all the wonderful memories associated with the many beautiful trees around us.
These same warm memories help trace a dye’s color back to its original source in nature. Some dyes and stains hold their color better than others, but sometimes it’s the faded moments in life that are the most meaningful.
