“Stepping Forward”

This painting is the beginning of a new series that I’m working on called “Forest Floor.” My granddaughter has taught me to see the beauty from a 3-year-old’s eye level. In “Stepping Forward,” I wanted to portray the innocence of youth’s first look at the large, encompassing world. The feather is made from thread and symbolizes shedding a part of birth and finding the strength and courage to take that first step in life.
