Each individual leaf on the tree was sculpted by hand using handmade papers made from abaca fibers mixed with cattail, grasses and similar collected items. The roots and the chrysalis are all 3-D elements and sculpted from handmade papers. I wanted to show a new life emerging in a more abstract way. The colors of the chrysalis are carried up into the sky above.
